South Africa has a rich aviation heritage and a well developed aviation industry. Flight training standards of some of the top schools are recognised as being among the highest in the world. The latest European Joint Aviation Regulations on Flight Crew Licensing (JAR-FCL) are being adopted by South Africa; this promises to facilitate the easier conversion of pilot licences between different States. Progress Flight Academy has a reputation for developing pilots of high calibre which is a definite advantage in the job market. This training is available to foreign students at bargain prices due to the favourable exchange rate for the South African currency.
Our MissionProgress Flight Academy is dedicated to developing pilots with a professional attitude and a genuine operational capability at a reasonable cost.
Company ProfileSpecialising in full-time residential flying training courses since 1981, Progress Flight Academy offers comprehensive courses from Private Pilot through to Airline Transport Pilot Licence. Progress Flight Academy is based at Progress Aerodrome, which is close to the 'friendly city' of Port Elizabeth. This is situated on the Indian Ocean coastline in an area known as 'The Sunshine Coast'. The aerodrome is ideally located for efficient training as it is close to both the general flying area and Port Elizabeth International airport, which is the best instrument training venue in South Africa. The accommodation is on the aerodrome, less than 200 metres from the academy buildings and Maintenance Operation. Students benefit from very comprehensive modular ground school and small class sizes which means more individual attention. The emphasis is on a pleasant but disciplined environment in which a professional attitude is encouraged. The aircraft and flight simulators are the most modern available in South Africa, and the flight training is enhanced by the use of this equipment in an environment that enables us to make the most efficient use of the hours available. All courses meet ICAO standards and are approved by the South Africa Civil Aviation Authority. In addition, we keep up with international developments and have included many requirements of the European Joint Aviation Regulations for Flight Crew Licensing (JAR-FCL) in our courses. We at Progress Flight Academy are proud to have been selected by South African Airways to carry out Multi-Engine flight training to prepare candidates for the Commercial Pilot Licence and Instrument Rating Flight Tests. We are now training Professional Pilots for the Tanzania CAA and the Malawi DCA. Graduates from Progress Flight Academy are flying for many companies, including British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Kulula.com, Nationwide, South African Airways, South African Airlink, South African Express, Nationwide, Air Namibia, TAM, Crossair, Air Mauritius, and Air Hong Kong.
